Hi, so my guinea pig’s head randomly started tilting to the right slightly and I researched it, apparently he might have neck wry and I’m working on getting him to the vet when they’re open (monday) as soon as possible. 2 days ago there was no signs but yesterday I noticed as he was laying down he was laying all the way on his side and he used to have deadly mites that made him have seizures so I thought he caught those again but he was just laying that way.. he’s still eating and drinking a lot but I’m just nervous. He’s about 3 or 4 years old, he’s always been noticeably healthy and suddenly gained this and I’m guessing it’s from trapped bacteria? I never knew guinea pigs could even get this. BUT, I wake up this morning to check on him and his neck isn’t tilting anymore.. is he hiding it or is he not sick? I’m just confused lol but I’m observing his behavior til I can get him to the vet. He’s breathing through his nose fine and isn’t acting aggressive towards his brother as of now. Do I need to start cleaning my pigs ears after this? I’m just afraid of poking them. I just find it odd his neck was literally twisting to it’s side now it looks completely normal?

Hi!

Please keep an eye on him and have him vet checked promptly if symptoms return.
It may have been something temporarily blocking his ear (please never pour anything down it just on spec because it could make things much worse) or something may have impacted on the balance organ in his inner ear/have a neurological or temporary pain cause.

At this stage we can all only guess and speculate idly.
