Hello Everybody,
Here goes a very long post mallethead
As you know, by beloved Oreo passed away earlier this week and now I have to put aside my own devistaion and think about my handsome Himi Ralphie. Prior to Oreo's passing, we had 6 boys all re-home from this forum;
Becklen :)
Sokel :)
Clairelove :)
The boys live in our purpose build "Pig Brother House" 8 x 6 insulated shed in 3 individual pens (I am sure you willhave all seen pigtures of when we were building it 2 years ago) Obviously the boys lived happily in sets of 2, they can see each other and week away to each other.
My worry is Ralphie, will he be happy living in his pen alone? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I have bonded bunnies but never piggies. Ralphie is a joy and a bit of a terror rolleyes, he loved Oreo but tried to get the others if they are out in the garden in the summer. He tried to eat the wire and struts around waggling his bum all the time (dont have to tell you all this, you all know what I mean:)):)))

Thoughts greatly appreciated.

I think he would love a friend, but i bet he would like to pick his own.

I got my boys from Becklen :))

I am so sad that the Becklen people are no longer on here, I feel really guilty that Oreo passed away so soon :0 :0But I have to be brave and think of Ralphie x>>

I think it is essential that Ralphie gets a friend. I think no guinea pigs should live alone as they are social animals. I advice you to take him boar dating were he can choose his own friend. So many lovely bonds have been created that way and it will give Ralphie a new lease of life.

Clairelove is still going, although she has closed her own rescue; but she's now fostering for the Potteries rescue (which is run by kidsgroviemadwho used to foster for her). Sadly, there are no rescues left in all the Northwest and South Scotland at the moment! :(

Best of luck for making Ralphie a happy boy again!

where abouts are you? My local Animal Care Sanctuary has about six pigs in at the moment that were dumped after christmas. They are in Lancaster if that is any good.

We are in Altrincham, when one of our bunnies died we had to go to Lans to find a lady bunny who stripe liked. Stripe is very fussy x)

quite possibly as there is less chance they will fight for dominance (although of course this can happen when the baby reaches his hormonal stage anyway) but quite often the older pig will assume a father/older brother role so it's worth looking into :)

Thank you, it is a bit of mind field when you have never done it before :))

Spent lots of time with Ralphie over the past few days. Today when I wetn to get him out, I shouted him, he came out from munching hay in his bedroom and just waited for me to pick him up. He's weeking and popcorning :)), do you think he will still be able to smell Oreo?:0
Not much luck on the new friend front at the moment .

Could you take him boar dating at one of the places that offer it? There seem to be lots of babies around x)
