Does This Apply To You, Too? - Hold Your Hand Up!

If your other half can live with all your piggies, the money you spend on them plus the endless sorting of their living quarters you are onto a Winner!

Thanks - in turn I have to live with all his model railway (he's got his own room full of them) and home improvement projects. So he cannot complain too loudly, especially not if he needs my help... :D

For me, hubby came along before the pigs, but I'm glad he is happy to keep on keeping piggies.
In return I put up with his spare time activities - originally Mountain Rescue, now battlefield history, which can take up quite a lot of time.

So did mine (he's the reason I emigrated after all), but he's been complaining about too many guinea pigs ever since I went from 2 to 4... nearly a decade ago! He's finally realised a year or two ago that it's not getting him anywhere.

What a wise woman you are @Wiebke! Men! They know who the better half is although they won't admit it!

My partner has grown to love the pigs- I catch him talking to them and feeding them treats! He does say sometimes he thinks I care more about spending time with them though! But I do have to put up with wrestling and his YouTube obsession :P

OH puts up with piggies because I have to put up with the kardashians.

@Kylie80 : You have my full sympathy; model railways are a lot less annoying! At least Robot Wars are only on for a little while every now and then! :D

Hub will talk to the piggies when I am not around and he usually feeds them their pellets first thing in the morning.

This did make me laugh. My OH professes not to like the piggies but he does feed them when I am late home from work or working away, gives medication, helps with nail clipping and occasionally helps me collect piggies from afar that are coming into the rescue. He’s also keen to tell me when one or other of them has done something new or exciting (such as kissed his hands or allowed him to give them a chin rub). He knows that the future is unlikely to be a future without guinea pigs, so he’s accepted it quite well really. He just wishes that this “hobby”of mine was less expensive in terms of vets bills. Perhaps in my next career I should try to get a job as a vet receptionist or retrain as a vet nurse to get discount.

Hub won't go as far as handling and medicating piggies, but he as accepted that they are part of our life and misses them when they are not around.

He's certainly done his fair share of taxi services to vets and out-of-hours vets, rescues for dating or pick-ups and cake/biscuit transports to rescue fundraising events over the years! He also insists on being present every time I bury one of the piggies in the garden. Not to mention some made to my specs folding runs and piggy furniture!

The poor man is taking me and all my biscuit boxes up to Kidsgrove for the big Christmas rescue fair again this year and has done the same with my cake corner supplies for the TEAS open day in Northampton.

I forgot about burial duties. He’s excellent at that. And we’ve had a lot of burials in recent years.

Both me and my husband had guinea pigs as children. Which is quite surprising considering guinea pigs are not so common pets in Bulgaria, and used to be very rare 20 years ago. We adopted our pigs the moment we started stable jobs and got ourselves our own place. :)

So it's a shared hobby... if you can call having pigs a hobby. We're a family of 5, two humans and three piggies. My mom and my OH's mom say they have grand pigs. :D

My hubby adores the piggies, he will feed them lunch and look out for them, gives them cuddles etc. I do cleaning and medications.

He did say recently he would be willing to learn to syringe feed so that I could ah e a break.

Hehehe I tagged my OH in this. He acts like he could take or leave the pigs but he's often the one with the hutch open and his face in there talking to Daisy or giving Donald a chin rub. He's also the one who says I can't have more than 4 as long as they all live together (but then is the one constantly showing me piggies until I am up to 4). Oh and lets not forget everytime I'm holding Daisy he proclaims "aww my favourite!"

My fiance has said no animals except maybe a dog. Though to be fair, his house isnt guinea pig suitable, but if we ever end up living in a better place, we will be having guinea pigs  And that dog we get, oh he will be allowed in the house, in the bed. Thats where my old dog used to sleep, and Archie would sleep if my bed was a futon or something. Critters love snuggling up :luv:

My other half had never had a pet until we got our piggies 5years ago, now he loves them! I do most of the work with them and he's never cleaned them out but they love hanging out with him sometimes more than with me! :hmm:

Took my hubby a while to realise he was fighting a losing battle saying No more piggies!
