I'm new to owing Guinea pigs and am collecting a pair of females shortly. I have set the cage up ready and wanted to check it all looks ok?

The cardboard box is only temporary as my fleece house hasn't arrived yet.

4 x 2 foot which I read to be adequate for a pair, it just seems small now everything is in it. Plus someone else has said ventilation might be an issue with high sides? I thought that would be an advantage as I have a cat so would save any accidental spottings although cat isn't allowed in that room anyway.

Yes, that's the recommended minimum size for a pair of girls.
As ground roaming animals, any extra space is welcomed when you can give it; floor time, cage extensions etc.
I think the sides look fine, the solid bits have vent gaps and the top is not plastic, so should be ok I think. You may find that you want a better view of them though - they can be very entertaining and their antics can be addictive!

Great thanks! Trust me once they settle they will hardly be in the cage lol. I used to have rats that lived in my bedroom and eventually I just left the cage open and they free roamed the room as they were never in the cage anyway.

The room they are in is my teenage daughters room (she thinks they are her piggies, how wrong she is lol). They can free roam in there most of the day as I'm going to build a bridge type structure for them to get in and out of the cage as its on the floor anyway.

I also have an outdoor run attached to a hutch, it's too small as its a 2 foot hutch on a huge run but they won't ever live in there it's just so they have a hiding place when they are outside as well.

Not even here yet though and I'm already looking for 5/6 foot cages. While this one is technically big enough there doesn't seem much running space. I might try taking some toys out and using them in the run / when free roaming instead.

I'm a newbie to this site, but have had my boys for a couple months now. In your cage, will there be two different hiding spots for the girls? I know my boys go bonkers if they have to try and share the coveted hiding spot. Silly boys! Your cage looks great! :)
