Does this look like straw?

One of the hays I buy for the girls is Pillow Wad meadow hay as its been lovely and soft and the girls seem to love it. This time I bought the mega bag direct from the Pillow Wad website as it was cheaper than anywhere else. I noticed a difference as soon as I opened the bag to get some out it was really hurting my hands as there were some really hard sharp bits in it. Every handful I take out I have had to sift through picking all the hard bits out as I'm afraid it will hurt the girls. Am I just being over cautious or does it look like it shouldn't be in there? This is what I've pulled out tonight.

I think it's likely just a poor batch of hay rather than a mix up and having straw

Certainly not the sort of hay Id want to be feeding to them.

That does not look great! I’d send them that photo and ask about the quality of it compared to other times you have purchased it. I think it is hay but it’s very coarse

That doesnt look good, we get Pillow Wad from Amazon for general floor hay sometimes and it never looks like that- though the last bag I opened did have many sharp bits that scratched my hands a lot, thats partly why we are thinking of going all hay box rather than half haybox half pillow wad!

It is really really hard and sharp and there is more of that in there than green soft hay

It's nothing like the bags I've had before. I hope it's just a one off as I bought it in bulk and have another 4 of the mega bags
