I've been working on the design layout for my book on guinea pig care and have been editing the bit about "adopt don't shop" :hmm::hmm::hmm:

I have several pictures that I found on bigstock and shutterstock on pet stores. They don't look right. When I am describing horrible breeding conditions, malnourished and sick guinea pigs, these pictures seem almost too nice :( The tank one isn't too bad, at least, it shows how bad keeping a guinea pig in a tank is :hmm:
What do you think?

I think that picture could be seen as promoting too many in a small space? I think that's what you are asking lol!

I would have thought a single piggy or a couple just doing their own thing would make a nice cover?

Hi
Still trying to get the third picture up... just a second

Oh sorry, the second photo hadnt come up, I've now seen it.

Hmm, I just worry someone somewhere would say you're promoting these conditions having it as your cover, as this is what attracts people to the book.

The girl in this photo is smiling, is this appropriate? I don't know :hmm:

Sorry, for some reason the photo wouldn't load from my laptop so I've used bigstocks online link instead. It won't have the watermark in it ;)

Where did I say I was using them as my cover? ;) That would be a bit shocking wouldn't it :D

They are for the the adopt don't shop section of the book :)

Oh I'm so sorry, I have mis read it thinking you were doing the layout for the front of your book and it's called adopt don't shop.

DUH!

I'm keeping my nose out from now on lol. Ever so sorry!

I wonder if any of the rescue centres have any pictures of bad, cramped conditions? Have you tried them? They may well feature some piggies in poor condition too.

Now I know what it's all for lol, I think they'd all be good. And yes with the cages behind the girl lol

Thats a good idea! Any recommendations which one I should try? ;)

I hear often rescues have pigtures more towards these type of photos

Only a link as its quite horrific to look at but I've sadly seen far worse.

Of course you want one that is more towards breeding. So maybe asking around some rescues would be good and getting their permission.

Sadly :( I saw a news report in the daily mail or osmething with guinea pigs rescued from a cage that was at least a foot or two up. They were almost hitting the top of the hutch it was just that high up. Absolutely shocking.

The poor piggie with the giant matt in that video :(

While looking up rescues, I came across this :(
This is someone visiting a rescue and they have so many piggies! I don't know why, but I teared up over it. At the very end there is a room with all the females. Looks a bit like the photo I first posted.

Aww lovely video. Spotted 3 himalyan guinea pigs that are just gorgeous <3
So many piggies in rescue sadly.
