Now that I have a cage big enough I was going to try boar dating with McMac. I have tried to look around, Little Brambles is closed for Christmas I think and there aren't many other guinea pigs in need of a home around Devon that I know of that are male :/
He is getting very bored and lonely. When I go to see him in his cage he tends to just sit and sleep in his hay bin and wait until he gets fed :(
If there aren't any potential boars around I might have to get him a wifey pig...But so worried about having him neutered and the cost...But don't want him to be lonely anymore :(

Unfortunately you are in a catch 22, most rescues won't home around Christmas. As many guinea pig's are wanted as Children's pets come January there will be an influx keeping looking but don't rush your best to take McMac to a responsible rescue where the pigs have already been quarantined this will allow McMac to choose his friend - this bond is the strongest way to success.

Patience is a virtue - McMac has been on his own sometime now a couple more weeks won't hurt.

Oh yeah I forgot about how many piggies are Christmas presents :( Well if that is the case I am sure I can wait a little longer and give a piggy a new home! I just worry at how lonely McMac can get. He has this big cage now but he prefers to just sit in his food :( maybe some new toys at Christmas will perk him up a bit more

Little Brambles will have boars for sure - at least 5 from the Scabby Boys rescue will be going to LB very soon once a piggy train is sorted out. There are plenty of boars around so don't worry, but a little patience as it's Christmas will be needed.

Guinea pigs always prefer to eat - that's all my pigs do and they have friends :)).

A Eating Guinea pig = is a happy guinea pig. Of course having a friend will be a better solution for him but it is only a couple of weeks. You don't want to take in any pig and McMac gets sick from the other pig or they could fallout after a couple of weeks and you end up having to work out where you can fit another cage.

That's very true, piggies do like to eat. And I would hate to have McMac fall out with a piggy and having to find a new cage :( Ok then :) I will wait until after Christmas. I will get hold of little brambles when they open back up :) thanks x

Just to let you know that Suzy will be arranging a piggy train down to Devon very soon for some boars to come to LB.

Contact Suzy and see if she has anyone suitable to pair up with your boar and hopefully we can get something sorted out for you.

Sorry I've not been able to help you out sooner but will try for you now.

Thankyou, yeah I didn't realize that LB would be shut for Christmas and after buying a C&C cage to make room for another piggy I was ready to get things rolling :L but it is ok :)
