I've just recently got two female guinea pigs about 5 days ago, both young and were together when I bought them. One of them keeps raising her hackles and making a low purring-maybe rumbling noise around the other piggie. Is this just a dominance thing?

Thank you for any help!

Yes, I wouldn't worry too much. :) They will settle, soon enough you will know who the alpha piggy is! :) My girls I've had since December still do that. LOL it's definitely a dominance thing. :) Sounds like rumblestrutting.

Ahh really, that's good to hear then! I'm trying to familiarise myself with all their noises and behaviours, too cute haha! Thank you :D

Hello, just answered your question in your introduction thread

sounds like you are encountering your girls season possibly. How long has the behaviour been going on? What size is their cage? Make sure you have two separate hideys so they can get space from each other. Have a read of this thread here Sow Behaviour

Hello I'm a newbie
I have 2 five month old female guineas and one of them keeps biting the other. Is thos normal behaviour or should i seperate them, altho i know they dont like being on their own.
