Dominating with food

Should I be concerned if the female babies are always taking mom’s fresh veggies? Do I need to separate the females babies from mom to stop nursing? I know she needs her nutrition and our little Princess is always taking Chloe’s (mom) food. Chloe pulls back a little but allows her to take it. The females are still nursing occasionally and I am worried Chloe isn’t getting what she needs to recover from pregnancy and nursing. Will the babies stop nursing or do I need to separate them from mom? This forum has been a life saver for me because I really don’t know what I am doing. I am feeding them SPS 3rd cut with a little alfalfa hay mixed in but now I wonder if they need more fiber. What cut is the best for momma and babies?
 
Hi Courtney, I'm not a guinea expert but I had the same problem with my mommy dog, when the pups were big enough they were nursing and eating her food. She had little malnutrition. Just until you get a more direct professional answer on guinea mom I would definitely separate mommy during her feeding time. She needs more food while feeding her little sqeekers lol. An a little mommy time doesn't hurt any mom from any mammal haha . Good luck
 
Baby pigs will take food from their mothers (or an auntie pig) - it’s how they learn what is safe and good to eat.
Adult pigs will also take food from another if they think it’s more interesting than their food, even if it’s the same stuff.

Then no worries as long as momma gets her nutritional needs met.
