Okay so my female guinea pig has been acting weird lately. I've noticed that she is barely eating, but still drinking lots of water. Also I looked at her genital area, and it looks crusty? And there was white stuff coming out. I don't know what is happening? When she sits, she some times holds her leg up in the air to. She hides in the corner now. And I don't have any other guinea pigs or animals around her. So she couldn't have gotten sick by that. I don't know what's wrong with her. It's making me sad.

It sounds like she needs to see a vet, fast. Just the fact that she is not eating enough is cause for concern. Is she pooping normally? Pigs go down hill very fast so the sooner the better. Sorry I don't have more advice, but the vet is your best bet right now.

There are out of hours emergency vets. She needs to see a vet. Vets must have only just closed? It's what 7pm where you are? Why did you wait until they are closed? Find your nearest emergency vet clinic and call them, at least speak to a vet over the phone, that should be free.

The fact that she is not pooping means her system is starting to shut down. Please call around and see if you can find a vet, even if they don't specialize in pigs...a regular vet is better than no vet. This is urgent!

At the very least she will need gut stimulants to try to re-start the gut - metoclopromide/emeprid and zantac. She will possibly also need pain relief - metacam - and syringe feeding of liquidised dried pellets in water or critical care.....that's just to stabilise her condition until the vet can then determine what is wrong.

From what you describe it could be a urinary stone which, given she is lifting her leg in the air could be stuck in the urethra and also preventing her from weeing which in itself is an emergency.....or issues with her reproductive system...both of which would require an Xray.

Please seek vet treatment immediately - this can;t wait until tomorrow.

I can't seek vet treatment immediately if there is only two vets in my town and they are closed. Thanks for advice but obviously I know I need to go to the vet but I CANT
