Dont know what to do

hi all you know i posted about my piggies keep fighting each other well they now keep doing it we have been woken up the past three nights with terrible noice and having to run into the other bedroom and the have been like a ball of fluff rolling round.

i dont know what to do i really dont want to split them up and i havnt got another cage.
please can someone give me some advice on what to do please?

Sorry but you have to split them. It's not fair on them. I'm assuming they're both males? You always need to be prepared that this might happen. I'd advise getting a new cage. Maybe you can then reintroduce them at a later date but it's fairly obvious they aren't getting on at the moment :(
 
i dont think the cage is big enough to split and i cant afford to get them a new cage at the moment i really dont know what to do as all ive got is a slightly large card board box they just had a massive scrap just as i was writing this?

You need to seperate them now! Right now! Before they do some serious damage to each other. Put one in the box for now if you have to, but please seperate them right now. I dont want you to end up with seriously injured pigs. You may say you cant afford a cage, but can you afford the vets bills if they shred each other up?

I really dont mean to sound harsh, I am just worried for your pigs. O0
 
i think you should seperate them, i think anything will be better than nothing so maybe use the box until you can get something else? look in your papers etc for any cheap cages :)
 
you really need to separate them. i don't want to scare you, but they can do serious damage to each other :( have you got a secure pen or run or something one could go in. you could make a cosy bed bit in it and things to hide in, food etc. it's not ideal but it would do for now. you can't keep one in it forever though. try and see if you can get a cheap cage anywhere. you may be able to re-introduce at a later date, but they are definitely not getting on right now. have you got a friend/relative you could borrow a cage off? maybe there's someone near to you on here that could lend you one for a while, until you can get one. i don't know, but please, please separate them, i know it seems cruel, but they could seriously hurt each other if you don't and that would be terrible O0

i will seperate them now, and ut one in the pen i dont have a spare water bottle, what should i use?
and also
could they be fighting because they are going through puberty?
i read something on the internet.
 
any water is better than no water so put some in a bowl untill tomorrow :)
 
Well done for seperating them. :) Water in a bowl will be OK for the night.
 
Oh how sad for you, its gonna be a bumpy road ahead for you hun, but i believe boars will fight to the death if they are not seperated(or is that only if a female is present)

the only problem is I'm at work 9-5 tomorrow so i will not get chance to get out and even have a look for a cheap cage?

Have you got anything you could use as a divider, a panel of a pen/run that can be cable tied in between them for a short term solution? That's what we had to use. We know how you feel - our boys fell out last year and we were forced to seperate them, but they stayed all the time at the divider snuggled up to each other! Unfortunately we hadn't realised just how bad they had fallen out and poor Blaze had a lump or two taken out of him and had to be taken to the vet to be on the safe side. They were much happier seperated. The younger boy, Scampy was going through puberty, so we think that is what triggered it all. Sadly we didn't get to try and rebond them as we lost both of them very suddenly in the summer.

I'm sorry to here that the think is they are not fighting constantly just now and again but wen they do fight they properly fight and its very scary?

With Scampy and Blaze it wasn't constant, but when they did start it was really vicious, until we realised they were going to to a serious injury to each other. We tried everything to re-bond, bathing together, a dab of Vicks on the nose and bottom, distraction, etc but no joy. When our other two bonded pigs have a bit of a set to, they have a good old rumble and are quite vocal and rarely a little nip but then it immediately stops and they are qute happy. Scampy and Blaze had teeth chattering, a couple of fighting yawns from Scampy and once he sunk his teeth into Blaze and literally hung of him, it was awful. You could tell they meant business. Well, it was mainly Scampy trying to hurt poor Blaze, who seemed to just want to get back to normal.

Have you got another pig or a female close by, our problems started when we got a third boy and placed him next to them in a cage. It all went horribly wrong shortly after.
 
i have got two more boars in the cage next to them but they have been there ever since we got them 3 months ago and the fighting has only just started but there is no female around so not sure why they have just started.

have you any ideas?
 
unfortunately boys will be boys where abouts are you ?

They have some great cages. If you are dividing a cage though remember each pig will need 3x2 worth of space. I have 2 of my boars living in a nero 3 each and they get on so much better this way. I hate for them to not have a friend actually living with them but for now this is working for us.

thanks are two other piggies jazz and piel are in a same sized cage and they gat on perfect together but they are true brothers, were the ones that are fighting are not true brothers could this be part of the problem?
 
I'm not sure, none of mine are related my other two Pudsey and Eccles are fine (at the mo) I think any pig can fight, it depends on personality. Your related pair my have one dominant and one who just says whatever! :D
 
i dont think it does as brothers can fall out too.

it depends on personality, if they are both dominant they will constantly argue over who is boss.
 
thats what i dont understand they were fine up until this weekend then all of a sudden they just keep trying to kill each other.
 
as S+T said how old are they?

if they hit the puberty stage its common for arguments to start then as they argue over who will be in charge
 
There is a place in Halesowen (Jct 3 M5) that usually has reasonable priced cages
