Dont know what to do

so ones in a cage, the others in the pen? well done O0 yeah try zooplus :)

they are 3-4 months old i think? we have had them three months but I'm not sure how long the pet shop had them before i bought them.
they look very big for 3-4 months old, only slighty smaller then jazz and pixel who are nearly a year old.

if you have had them 3 months they will have been over 6 weeks old when u got them so they are probably over 4 months old :)

yep but i dont see how that help unless they are going through a stage but he did a massive bite on my finger this morning and he has never done that before?

sorry to hear you are having trouble with your boys, what about hormone treatment? can this be done on a GP? we have 2 girls zoe and jessie and when jessie is on heat she mounts zoe, and gets really bossy. so we put a cooling rack in the cage to divive the cage and just cabled tied the rack to the box. so maybe you could give that a try.
if not perhaps get some timber and wire or just wire and make a cage. it's always cheaper to make one, where it is here in australia. have you perhaps thought of getting a cocky's cage until you can get another cage? though i would try the cooling rack or something similar to divivde cage first. are you sure one isn't sick? our vet said a piggy doesn't show it's sick till it is well advanced as in the wild a sick guinea pig would be killed by the pack to protect the pack from predators. it was just a thought. wishing you luck with it. hugs and cuddles to you all. :) :smitten:

i have put a big pen up in the living room and put all four of my guinea pigs together and the two that are fighting arnt fighting anymore the two olser ones seem to be keeping them in check.

do you think i should leave them all together and see if they get on better that way?
they seem to be getting on so far.

I don't know if 4 boars together would work. It's taking a bit of a risk. I'd keep your established pair of 1 year olds together, and seperate from the other 2, if you add more pigs in with them you risk breaking up their friendship, i.e. they might start fighting as well :(
Maybe leave your scrapping boys in the pen together, the extra space might help them settle. If they're still fighting though, you need to definately get a seperate cage.
You mentioned one pig had bitten you, was it a proper bite or just a nip? I wonder if they're not feeling very well, which is why they're also turning on each other.

i think it was a proper bite i sort of felt my finger being crunched and now i have a nice big bite mark on my finger.

i just really dont know what to do for the best?
i really cant afford a new cage at the moment but i dont understand how one of them could have got ill they are always indoor so they dont get cold.
I'm just really really stuck on what to do?

They can get ill from other things - like mites, which would explain discomfort in being held or being around other guineas. Have you got anything you can put the other pig in temporarily? Like for example a plastic storage type box with open top and holes in the side? You really have to keep them seperate if they continue to hate each other. I would try putting the 2 in the pen together and see how they get on, do they fight then?

i havnt got any storage boxes i was thinking of getting a three tier hutch and putting them all in because if they still dont get on at least i can sort of sperate the huch into three and it wouldnt take up as much space,
do you think this would be a good idea?

yes that does sound like a good idea. I'm getting a 3 tier hutch in a few days. You can get them on ebay, I'll find you the link if you want? Can you sell your old cages to raise money, that's what I'm doing.

yeah, i should take the 2 that aren't fighting out, leave on of the fighting ones in the pen with things to snuggle in and put one back in the cage. a three tier hutch sounds like a good idea, because you oculd always make it into 3 seperate bits, as you said O0

The three-tiered hutch plan sounds good, but you need to make sure each floor is big enough for them to live on. Good luck with it all! O0

i think the 3 tier cage is a good idea, but i would also examine the piggies to see if there are any sore spots, mites, over grown teeth etc. as said it could be due to a illness. or it could just be hormones. good luck with your babies, but i would rule out illness, we had rosie(RIP) and when she bit us it was found she had a bad liver and sadly she passed away shortly after. i am NOT saying that is what is wrong with your babies, all i am saying is rule out illness. good luck. hugs and cuddles. :smitten: :)

hi i have checked and the three tier hutch is definatly big enough for the piggies to live in if i do have to seperate them.

I think I'm a bit late to enter this thread, but here's my bit anyway! :D

If it makes you feel any better, on a couple of occasions when two boars have decided to have a boxing match (with teeth), I've had to rearrange the entire shed to make sure they both have somewhere to live. 98)

it hanpens to my pigs i would make sure they have always got plenty to eat that helps my little pigs
