Ok so I've been searching around on the forum for quite a while now for info about doses of the above medicines for pigs suffering with bladder stone problems but am getting very frustrated. Dory's started squeaking and weeing blood again and i'd like to get him started on medication straight away.

So, septrin dose? 0.25ml? He weighs 1.1kg.

Metacam? 0.4ml once a day?

Cystease?

Eurologist? And how do you feed these tablets?

Sorry, am hoping theres someone out there that can magically answer all this cos they're going through the same thing :)>>>

All I have the brains to answer right now, is the cystease.

Start off with 1 capsule (I opened it, dissolved it in water/cranberry juice (unsweetened) and syringed it). You can try reducing it if you want, but if you find 1 capsule works, then great

Metacam - dog strength is usually 0.1ml, cat strength is different dose. 0.4 ml sounds a high dose of metacam if it is dog strength. Check with your vet as it will depend on which type it is.

I wouldn't recommend giving drugs without checking with your vet first.

The metacam dosage can be 0.1mg-0.3mg per 1kg per 24hr.

In which case a average of 1kg pig will need 0.6ml once a day of the cat metacam

And this would equate to 0.2ml of the dog metacam.

Which septrin do you have? It depends on if you have the paediatric or not as they are different strengths.

Please chat to your vet too...

x.

thanks all. Yes am going to call the vet for an appointment when they open this morning. I have the child version of septrin. Poor boy's looking very sorry for himself x

Bubbles has just finished a course of Baytril (0.7ml daily) and Metacam (0.2ml twice a day) for a UTI. He weighs 1.2kg and is approx 3 1/2 yrs old.

He's made good progress but still has a slight amount of slurry in his pee, so he's on a low calcium diet too which is also helping.

I agree that a trip to the vets is important....

Good luck
