Burnie is in charge i think. He does the rumble strutting and dot just doesnt bother arguing back. But saying that, she does squirt him in the face.

I have a problem on my hands lol. I keep getting dot and burnie out for floor time together. They live seperate at the moment, but cages literally touching. So they always hear, sniff and see each other. Burnie isnt neutered and dot isnt spayed so i watch extremely carefuly, ready to stop any mating. I think i may have a bonded or definitly bondable pair. They get on so well. Graze together and chase eachother around.

Burnie does rumble strut . And keeps dominating the hidey houses but thats about it. I caught bernie grooming her last night on floor time

Most probably it takes less than a second in the time it takes for you to blink! Why not get Bernie neutered, wait the 6 weeks and then they can live together as huboar and wifelet.

Yea I'm going to. But hes too young. I didnt realise about how fast they can mate because i bred 2 rabbits when i was a kid and it took quite a while. I assumed gpigs were the same

12 weeks is a bit young. Dennis and Christian were 18 weeks old when they were done. The vet said that their testicles had to descend properly before they could be neutered.

It is a bit scary:eek:. Velvet was pregnant when I bought her. She only showed about 30 days before she gave birth! I had a baptism of fire there! Fortunately I had kept guinea pigs in the past so I had a general idea of what I was doing. Fortunately her best mate Betsy wasn't pregnant.

I think that would be a good idea. You can still keep them in cages next door as long as they can't get to each other. That way they can still have a chat.

Yea they def cant get to each other. Just maybev touch noses, thats all.

How long is the recovery after neutering? Roughly?

I agree that they should be kept separate at all times until he is neutered and “safe”to be around sows.
The recovery from castration is quite quick but he isn’t safe for 6 weeks after neutering as sperm remain live in the body.
I really wouldn’t have them out in the same space unless there is a barrier between them until he’s 6 weeks post neutering.

I agree - it sounds as if Bernie needs to be neutered so that he can live safely with his love and you won’t have any cute little furry consequences to deal with.
How old is Bernie now?
How is Dot?
I seem to remember she was causing you some concern.
