Just found dot fluffed up and bloated after eatin apple. Hopefully after a good floor time she will be fine. Ive given her some gripe water and loxicom Shes still acting her usual self.

Ive noticed her bein pair shaped ever since she had that lump in her bladder. I'm thinking now is she pregnant. I had her out with burnie a few month ago because i wasnt aware how quick they can mate. But i didnt see any mouting and her weight has increased much

I'm pretty worried

Do you have a photo for our experienced members to look at? They generally continue to gain weight on a weekly basis if they’re pregnant. Did you ever leave her and Bernie alone together and / or did you ever see them mate?

Il take one later. I pray to god shes not. Her nipples seem long but is that normal in a female? I have checked for any bumps inside her and theres nothing.

Also shes been on loxicom for a while which isnt good if she is pregnant surely?

Fingers very firmly crossed. If you have any concerns, I suggest that you start up a new thread in the pregnancy section with the photo so that the pregnancy experts will see and advise further

Please see a vet promptly. Gripe water is not enough for severe bloat, which can kill. The fact that she is fluffed up means that the bloat is not in the mild, but already in a painful and more serious stage.
Bloat, GI Stasis ( No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

All the best!

Betsy has long nipples but Velvet (who was pregnant when I bought her) hasn't and neither has Meg. I think it just depends on the piggy.

Might be a false alarm. Shes pooing alot and drinking shes basicly acting normal

You’d definitely be able to tell if she was bloated. Do her sides feel hollow when you tap them? Does her tummy feel tight like a balloon?

I’ve only ever dealt with a case of mild bloat and the vet fitted her in within the hour as she was constantly wanting to lay down, wasn’t eating and generally looked fluffed up and uncomfortable and that was apparently just mild. But like @Betsy jas said, make a vet appointment if you’re unsure

She has looked like this shape since her bladder problems
.but is acting normal. I have noticed she is eating all of her red pepper but before she used to eat a bitView attachment 96538

Her sides are not hard, they are soft. Just worried about the time i let her out with burnie but i was watching the whole time and he didnt mount her. She looks so wide at the back though

It’s good that her sides are soft and that she’s eating and acting normal. I know it’s hard to tell from a photo but any thoughts on of this piggy looks pregnant? @Wiebke @pig in the city

Can you please give me some particulars as to how old she is, how long you have had her and what her background is?

Sows naturally develop a pear-shaped figure once the first fast growth phase is over and they have the extra energy to fill out.
A pregnancy lasts on average about 9-10 weeks; you won't notice anything until the last 2-3 weeks when they suddenly fill out and gain weight as the baby balls become very noticeable.

Bloat is when the tummy is hard and tight (see the bloating link); if the tummy is still soft, then we are talking about mild bloating. If the tummy is partially or wholly hard like drum, then it is severe bloat.

If you are concerned for Dot then a trip to the vet would not go amiss.
They can check her over for bloat, pregnancy or anything else and put your mind at ease.

Dot’s a beauty.

Ive had her from basicly a pup. She has a bladder issue ( lump on bladder wall) since then she went pear shaped but recovered back to normal after antibiotics . Simon didnt know what the lump was on xray and said operating would be very risky. Shes about 2.5 years old

When i say recovered back to normal i mean she stayed pear shaped but started eating again and acting normal. Her sides a very soft. Shes my first sow , I'm still learning. Plus ive always had abby pigs and its harder to notice their shape. Ive had a boar with severe bloat before that almost got to gastric torsion. He survived that.I'm confident now that dot isnt bloated, i think she was sitting in an awkward position.

Theres been no huge weight gain since i have noticed her shape change when she was sick. She lost weight infact. She went from about 1.1kg to 960g . Today she weighed in at 1011g . Her weight sits between 980g and 1020g roughly

Her pear-shaped figure is just normal for her; it is going to be more pronounced as she gets older and tissue no longer as elastic. Smooths/Americans can get rather peardrop shaped. Abys have a breed distinctive wedge shape, cresteds and perus a long and fairly slim body and rex-type piggies can develop a very round back end, like my Nerys, who was never pregnant but had the most impressive bum! :D
Highly pregnant sows don't carry their main weight over their hips but more foreward on the belly in between the legs.

Nerys (2008-16) in her heyday!

That is why you judge a piggy's individual weight/size ratio always around the ribcage to check whether they are overweight or not.
The Importance Of Weighing - Ideal Weight / Overweight / Underweight

I would take a deep breath if I were you. If you have worries about bloating, have her checked by Kim or Simon.
