Dot fluffs up when eating veg.

Is there a reason she does this? She just goes really fluffy and round. Not bloated atall, i have noticed it since she has been bonded with Bernie. Wondered if shes trying to make herself look bigger as a defense mechanism to protect veg, she steels Bernies veg even though she has exactly the same šŸ¤£
 
:)) Our girls do this, I have always wondered why. I have always thought it is their prey instinct kicking in... looking big to ward off others wanting to take veg off them.
 
Can tell it ,more with our short haired girls and abys in the past. Never noticed it with Vimto and Pitch who were long haired

Oh so you can see it with aby's .mine have all been boars. Maybe they just didnt do it. They were next door neighboars.<< new forum guinea pig saying šŸ‘.
 
Yes, Iā€™ve noticed Ted does this, heā€™s very food driven x Bill doesnā€™t?
 
My two do this at veg time aswell. Primrose also fluffed herself up at the vet nurse when she went for a nail trim; I got a mild telling off from the nurse about her weight and I tried to explain she isn't really that big she's just telling you to back off...

Lol , Dots starting to annoy me with the veg hogging. I'm worried about bloat in her and scurvy in Bernie. I think I'm going to try training Bernie to eat on his house roof, Because Dot rarely can get up on it, shes too small. And bernie is always on it

We've recently started feeding Jezzy floof on the upper deck of the new castle house because she's far too polite to get a fair share from the rugby scrum on the floor- even though they all have a food dish each somepig else's always looks tastier to greedy Clover and troublemaker Piggle!
 
My lot just love the "rugby scrum" and just scoff the pile of veg that is chucked in the general direction. (I gave up with foodbowls for veg a long time ago) Sometimes one pig will take a particularly tasty bit away but not often as they don't want to miss a single second of being able to stuff their mouths full of veg as fast as they possibly can. Cos of course I never feed them ever and they are always HUNGEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
 
XD I call it 'Hedgehog mode' when my lot do this. I'm sure I read somewhere it's a dominance thing, so others dont come and nick their veg because they're bigger and scarier...although no one seems to have explained this theory to little Pumpkin :hmm:
