Aw wow thats really good! I really want to learn to draw pigs lol. Well done you!

Yes, I did that! ")

Thank you!

It is quite hard to draw piggies; with paintings, you can do a lot with colours so other people recognize which one it is, but with drawings, you have to work with the shape of the body, which is so difficult because of the piggies' cylindric shape :))
However, I did not learn it over night, of course, it's my job, so don't be disappointed when you try to draw a piggy and it does not work at once! You need either a very good photo or a piggy that poses for you! :)) Then you need a loooot of practice and maybe a little bit of talent. ;)

I studied English and Art in order to become a teacher / lecturer, for 6 years at university. The first three years, I had to do everything concerning fine arts: drawings, paintings (acrylic, watercolours and oil), illustrations (children's books), photography, sculptures...
The last three years, I had to choose my main subjects I wanted to specialise in. I chose drawing and painting, including a lot of colour theory / chromatics and practical work in a studio, supervised by a professor. I had to hand in a portfolio when I initially applied at university, and the professors chose if I am talented enough, then I had to hand in another portfolio after the first three years, then again one for my final examinations.
Additionally, because I was not only trained as "artist", but also as teacher, I had to do courses and exams in history of art and also didactics (how to teach art to children or adults), plus practical training at schools.

Nowadays I do mainly animal paintings and drawings, but also landscapes, still life and a lot of abstract paintings. Every now and then, I make a sculpture.

You can see (and buy :)) ) my work on my website:

Our walls are already crammed with other paintings :- )
But maybe I will frame Pauline. She was so special to me x)

This is just stunning you really really have talent x)x)x)
I hope you can sketch/draw all your animals cause you've captured their character too, even more than a photo, well done -cxx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Thank you Glynis. Yes, I have drawn almost all my pets and other people's pets as well!

People in art forums keep saying the detailed drawing of a character would show I much I love animals.

When I drew Derek the sheep, they commented that I had drawn grace and dignity into his face - well, I didn't, it is already in his face, I just captured it and showed it! Many people would not see such character traits like grace and dignity in an animal's face though, but when you watch them long enough and get to know their character, it is fairly easy.
Other animal drawings are more like in a biology book, they show a good drawing of an animal, but it can be "any horse/bird / sheep", without any personality. So I prefer to draw animals that I know well.

This is Derek

Thank you very much!

I have just finished another piggy drawing, I might show it soon. :)

I actually agree when they say you've captured their personalities, I could see deep into their eyes and see the love and happiness in all, Dotty and company loo bright and intelligent and I think little Dotty looks like she has an extra soft spot for whoever took the photo that you used to draw this picture from, you can tell shes a totaly sweetheart

My OH took the photo (he is the great photographer, I am the painter and drawer). He has also taken all the squirrel photos (they are too fast for me to draw them in the park :)) ).
Dotty is a sweetie, but she can be cheeky sometimes. She is also very chatty, loves to wheek! x)
