Poor, poor Captain.
He had his second cheek abscess lanced and drained last week. We've been cleaning it and flushing it every day and I noticed that he was getting a hard swelling under the original site. At his check up, my vet despaired to note that his original abscess had developed a second capsule - a double one!
He was lanced again yesterday and my poor boy was so drugged and out of it when I took him home. He was just a dead weight in my hands and he is a big boy too, 1.3 kilos all floppy in my hands. I was very worried last night. He just lay down in his hutch and slept it off. I laid out some vegetables for him which he ate about 6 hours later. He enjoyed the grass I laid out as it is soft and easy to eat. Struggled a bit with his carrot.
Saw him this morning. Up and alert! Phew! He was waiting for his breakfast. Hurrah! He's a bit angry with me and will now fight his syringe for his antibiotics, but he is back to his normal self.
My vet said that there was no pus in the second area, just a thickening of skin. Well, better safe than sorry. He is going to be very spoilt to make up for his ordeal yesterday.
