double chins (piggys)

Llewelyn has the most impressive double chin and has had one as long as I've had him.

As far as I can tell, it hasn't got anything to do with dominance, because my most dominant sow didn't have one!

Very normal, most pigs have them to some degree! Proper name for such double chins is is "dewlaps".

Llewi's double chin certainly rivals my Dexter's, and that's saying something. :))
 
My Paris has a double chin and she is the dominent one, whether thats why ... who knows ...................

I've never heard of "dewlaps" - you always learn something new!
Llewi has certainly the most impressive one that I've ever seen; even more so than Dizzy's which wasn't bad either!
 
funny i saw this today i said to partner this morning when feeding piggies that freddie looks like getting double chin and he was the thinner of the pair but is the one who always rumbles and wags his bum i tell him to stop it and he does but its prop the sound of my voices that stops him in his tracks not that he is being good lol
 
Sorry to re-vive an old post, but are Dewlaps practically nothing then?
It's just my guinea pig's chest/chin area seems to have gotten a bit larger, and looks saggy almost. She isn't overweight I don't think... well, maybe. But not by a lot. My other pig has one but not as large - and they're only 1.
Is it anything to worry about/take to the vets?

My Willow has a bit of a saggy chin too. She's quite slim overall.

At first I was a little worried, but it's not lumpy and causes her no problems. I think it's pretty common
 
Pickle often sits on her double chin. And looks grumpy.

They are called dewlaps, but generally i dont associate piggies with them, rabbits use them to pull out fur to create a nest for they babies. They usually have quite large dewlaps, females especially.

Dewlaps are nothing to worry about as long as that's what it is (which I would assume it is as your piggy is probably just developing it as it grows). Lexy has a rather pronounced dewlap that she likes to use as a pillow :)) She is my dominant sow too...interesting! ?/
 
Ooh, this is interesting stuff as some of my girls have this - I was a bit worried they were getting fat :...
