So my piggie just had double surgery... He had bladder stone surgery scheduled and when they opened him up they found the hernia is actually caused by his testicle that didn't drop and in order to get to the bladder it had to be removed...
He's still at vets, in recovery. I know he won't do well until he's home and with his friend. He always shuts down when he's away from him.
Going forward, what would you change? Their cage has levels created by boxes and ramps to give them extra hiding places and snuggly places. Would you recommend to remove those?

I feed them low calcium diet already, varieties of veg and fruit (made changes to fit with the low calcium diet), started filtering their water and they get the Timothy hay. I bought the cystease as supplement. Just have to work out the doses etc!

Healing vibes please!

Oh bless him, I would be inclined to keep him on one level and not over exercised. I'm sure it won't be long before he realises how much better he feels with no hernia and no stone

Thank you. I'll make changes, it was to give them extra spaces to hide or to snuggle on top levels. They both love it.

I hope it was worth it. He's still at vets recovering, need all the healing vibes he can get. Currently at phase when I am doubting if putting him through this was the best option.

How come he went to the vet alone? wouldn't they take both, so that they can be together there? Hope he's doing good 👍

His friend joined him this morning. They needed to make sure he's toileting few hours after surgery, it's impossible to know who's doing what with two piggies in the cage. He's better, as Guinea pig can be after such a difficult surgery, but staying at vets overnight as still not eating. He has his friend with him now, hopefully be able to go home tomorrow and recheck on Monday.

Aw, poor little fella, sending him healing vibes and a speedy recovery x
