cuddles

ok guys I know I havnt been on here for ages but its been sooooooo busy at the refuge.long story short I managed to rescue two out of three pregnant sows from a pet shop and they are at the beginnings of dragging legs.have got an appointment with the vet omorrow but they are getting worse every min.I also have a baby boy that came in skin and bones. He is eating but has drool all down his chin and is a bit of a worry.Any help would be great

Are they heavily pregnant? Babes could be sitting on nerves if so. Or a vitamin C deficincy caused before you got them. I think advice from a vet is wise.

Drooling can be a sign of overgrown molars so I'd whizz him up there too. If he hasn't been eating much before you got him then this could cause his teeth to grow.

Hope they will be ok.

Maybe calcium injections might help your pregnant sows. Agree with S&T about the teeth problem.

Try some Osteocare liquid - it worked on Nemo the first time I tried it and it's calcium.:)

thanks for that.yes he had ingrown molars and is eating mushy food and getting stronger every day.the girls had vitamin deficiency and i gave them calcium and they were much better but have since gotten worse! they were walking again but this morning they had blood in poos and were barely mobile.back to the vet we go but they had been so severely neglected at the pet store i hope they are strong enough to pull through

I hate hearing the word neglect when talking about guinea pigs =( Just a couple of weeks ago someone moved out of their house and just left their guinea there on the front porch! I was mortifyed. It was taken to the shelter and hopefully found a good home. I wanted to take him in so badly but I just don't have the room. I hope your piggies pull thru! You are a good mommy =)

I'm sorry that the sows were so badly neglected. Please let us know how you get on at the vets.

Keep us posted ... poor little things!
Hope things improve soon.

It sounds as though it was a really bad pet store that they came from ... have you been back to tell them what has happened or reported them?

o.k update time.the next day the two had aborted and then one made a fast recovery and the other had to be rushed to the vets and had baytril and critical care as had suspected pyometra.she kept getting weaker and the poor candy died yesterday.Toffee has since made a full recovery.pet store have kept the sister who was pregnant and will not see vet even though i have been back and told them

makes me soooo sad:(.The boar isnow big and fat and is hopefully going to the best home ever with the woman who makes my cuddle cups so awesum home.poor candy

I'm sorry to hear that both piggies aborted and also sorry to hear that the piggie passed over rainbow bridge. You did everything you could xx
