She went into a blind panic when OH got a rug out of the wardrobe, leapt off the bed land the right way and did a back flip.. then ran off dragging her back legs, the carpet is deep piled so cushioned the impact.. Vets advised me to give her another dose of metacam, which i'd already done, and to restrict her for 24 hours until the morning, then take her in, maybe have xrays etc.
She didn't cry when it happened, and is behaving normally, apart from the obvious lack of movement. Her legs are not limp, and I can manipulate them, there is a small amount of resistance, but this is within 10 mins of accident.
I'm numb at the moment, just can't believe just how much bad luck can be thrown at one little guinea pig :(

Awww bless her ! :(

I must admit my Bentley has a few falls and so far nothings happened, but i always worry after ! He's once fallen down the back of the bed walking along the side all of a sudden he just dropped because the bed wasn't close enough to the wall so he was just on duvet and it gave way, luckily he just toddled out the end of the bed a little confused. And another time he just pop corned so much on his top level he just fell off !

I really hope theres nothing seriously wrong with your piggy :( sending lots of good luck and get well soon vibes ! all fingers and paws crossed here !

Oh god, poor little Liquorice. Hope she is ok. Big hugs to you x x

She was doing so well.. then her achille's heel blind panic sets in and she's like a possessed piggie, with a closed mind. No stopping her when she does it, no warning, she just bolts..:(

Thanks guys!

Well it appears this Guinea Pig is either made of rubber or really is very lucky.. before I went out, I did the pinch test on her hind foot, and she pulled it away from me, grumbling.. I think "Well better than half an hour ago"... got back just now (over 3 hours after accident) and repeated the pinch test on her other hind leg.. she set off with a good deal more movement in her hind legs than before, she can walk on them, still a bit of dragging now and then, but defo an improvement :))
I think she might just have escaped serious damage.. Blimey, I think I need a stiff drink..

Aww, I'm pleased Liquorice seems ok now :) if she had done anything serious, you would definitely know about it by now.

She really is good at bouncing back :)

Yep, you most certainly deserve a stiff drink!

Oh my god she really does have bad luck. Thank goodness you are both okay.

Thanks Piggyfan, she's certainly weeing and pooping ok, as I discovered earlier.. I think we've averted disaster, she's just abouts back to normal now, a bit of bunny hopping, but mainly walking, she's even managed a small run! She thought the horse rug was going to eat her (it's a small rug for a small pony, but she thought it had 'teeth' and ate guinea pigs..), I think she'll be back to normal tomo, she's due some more metacam before bedtime..

Poor little girl. She sounds like she got a real fright. It is such a relief she is okay.

You can see in the video, she is struggling to get her legs under her, but after the accident which was just 12 hours ago, she couldn't do that at all. I've had her on a flat surface and witnessed a pretty good walk and she can get her legs under her when the surface she's sat on is good.
As you can see, she's really trying, and enjoying her food. I think when the bruising goes down, i'll be giving her swimming lessons in the sink to help build her back up :)

Oh My Liquorice @)

Just read through this bitting my lip in fear of what I'd read in the next post :x, I'm so relieved it turned out not too badly for you all. I'll bet it was just about all you were needing after everything you've already been through with her rolleyes

Liquorice, you might be made of rubber, but please stop teasting the theory, because your Mummy's nerves are NOT!

Really hoping your girl keeps improving, x's and (((hugs))) to both of you.

She's feeling a bit sore tonight, i've had to let her have a bit of floor time to stretch her legs, being cooped up is making her stiff, she's pretty much the same as this morning, no worse but not much better. Like all knocks and scraps, they always feel worse for the next day or two after, so guessing that's what's up.
She's able to walk about outside the cage, but struggles inside because of the hay being un-level.
I've set up a fleeced area in the spare room for her to walk on, for comfort more than anything, and to help improve her mobility. she'll be there whilst i'm on the pc, then move to the bedroom later on.
