As some of you may know, I rescued my little Oliver, he's slightly underweight and has crackly breathing.
I'm heading to the vets tomorrow and have just realised he dribbles quite a bit, so ny question is:

Is this dribble related to his respiratory problems or could I have a potential dental pig on my hands? :(

I will ask the vet a few questions but she's not cavy savvy so thought id ask you lovely people first.

Thanks!

Jess, Daisy, Minnow and Oliver x

Dribbling can be a sign of dental problems or mouth sores, so it would be good to check him out for it. Take some cotton buds; your vet can clear out the gunk in the mouth with them to get a better view at the molars.

Best of luck for your poorly boy!

Have you watched your piggie eating? Does he appear to eat normally? Dental problems are often secondary to something else, so it's likely that your piggie has developed a dental issue in addition to a respiratory problem. However, you do need to find a cavy savvy vet who is also experienced in dental issues. Most vets don't have the right equipment to examine a guinea pigs teeth properly. Where about are you based?

Thanks both of you, I'm quite concerned for him :(

I'm in Gloucestershire. I just wish my local vets were open today :a19:

Also, if he is a dental Piggie, I won't be able to rehome him, so looks like I'll have to neuter him and keep him with my girls :)
