I've just noticed dried blood, not much at all, around my little 3 month olds lady parts. It's not actively bleeding and I can't see any blood actually inside there, just around the outside. Is it possible for a sow to bleed a little when they come into season? The internet seems to have mixed views on it, some say yes and others say no, I can't get a straight answer. I've also read a bladder stone or UTI is possible if blood is present, I haven't noticed any blood in her urine but after seeing this she's now on watch, I've placed puppy pads in the pee spots to keep an eye on any blood in the urine, if I see any she will be straight to the vets.

She's also quite skinny compared to my other 3 sows that are the same age as her, she has always been around 100g smaller, I'm weighing her daily, despite being much smaller than the others she is still gaining weight every time she's weighed, but she feels too skinny to me, I'm not sure if this is normal or perhaps she was a runt and always smaller, or if there's a problem. She is also quite impatient and grumpy lately, she's baring teeth and launching at the other sows when usually she is not like that, she's a sweet and placid girl and I have noticed behaviour changes. Is this behaviour because she's in season or is she in pain and there's something wrong? What precautions should I take and when should I decide enough is enough and she should see a vet? How long do I leave this? She was checked by a vet 2 weeks ago and there were no problems, this is recent in the last 2 days.

I've had sows for years and have never seen blood associated with the heat cycle. Guinea pigs are not animals that bleed as part or their menstrual cycle (it doesn't make sense for prey animals to shed predator-attracting blood as part of their reproductive cycles!) I would query either blood in the urine that may be hard to tell apart from blood from the reproductive tract, or else an ovarian cyst (behaviour changes/aggression can be a symptoms) or uterine inflammation. At any rate, I think I'd book a vet checkup just in case, I would wonder if the aggression is either hormonal or a sign that she is in pain.

I agree with Freela, best to get her checked. I have had one sow who used to have the odd spot of blood when in season but she was an older sow with an ovarian tumour. I am more inclined to think UTI at this stage.
