;D so the goats are higher up the pecking order then :)
No way but its easier just to store 1 bale that they all eat rather than 2 big bales

:o A bale, you mean like a proper bale? :o I pay £2.69 for a small bag!

I get a small bag from jollies but i saw someone bagging up the smaller bags from a huge bale of the stuff....it would be easier if i could buy it in a bale.

Yes one of the hugh bags that they come in
I get mine from an animal feeds cash and carry

I am going to have to make a huge list for the new pet shop owner of what I want ;D

Huge bales are by far the best and the cheapest if you can store them. They come in plastic bags so its not too difficult. You need a farm shop, look in Yellow pages or type Spillers into search and find a supplier, but most farms will get it in for you :)

Can I just ask what do you actually ask for at the farm shop? OH went down the other week for my hay and came back with forage as well,we thought it would be the same as excel forage that we buy but when we opened it ,it was really damp and smelt like a brewery ;D sort of all fermented :P....we had a great bonfire with it ;D :D

Nor here (Reading central!) but if you look in Yellow pages under farm shops you may find someone willing to deliver (maybe you can get a group of you together to make it worth their while) or who you can visit every month or so. :) Ours wasn't keen on delivering at first but since he started I've recommended him to others and now he brings a lorry load of stuff into Reading for guineas and rabbits :)

Spillers Excel or Dodson and Horrel Just Grass or Graze On. Maybe what you came home with was Haylage or molassed chopped grass (Badminton Mollichaff/grass)

I think I will have to ring round tomorrow. I know a few round here have guineas cos the local pet shop owner has been asked to get timothy hay in for someone ;D

Our pet shop orders in Readigrass (Spillers) and I've had Just Grass from him too. He does a roaring trade in Medibed and bales of hay. Its just a case of making them realise its worth the effort and will pay them to do it (they are a business after all!). If you can get a few people to order at the same time you may have more luck. They can also bag it into smaller bags (I think, not sure of the laws on that though I'm sure they will be :) ).

where can you get it ( this sounds great for simulating their natural enviroment)

Hay is best for recreating the natural environment. Dried grass is higher in Protein and fibre and is better as fodder. It is wasteful, in my opinion, to use it for them to play on :) in the same way as you wouldn't give them Oxbow hays to play in :) Good cheap hay is much better for this :)
