i keep two boars together with one 500ml drinking bottle (i had two but one smashed. it should be replaced soon). i havent noticed the bottle leaking so i can only assume that my pigs are drinking 250ml of water between them in one day. the bottle always goes down by about half when i check in the evenings. is this too much for them? it just seems like a large amount for 2 piggies. should i see a vet?

hmmm if you piggie drinks way more than 300 ml in 24 hours , especially if the amount suddenly goes a up a lot in a relatively short time and cannot be explained by a change in the weaather (like heat wave) or less veg so yeah but if your piggie is drinking more than 300 ml in 24 hours then i would get them check x
xhugs to you and your piggiesx

We recommend to have any guinea pig checked that drinks more than 300 ml in 24 hours, especially if the amount suddenly goes a up a lot in a relatively short time and cannot be explained by a change in the weather (like a heat wave, the onset of indoors heating etc.) or a change in diet (less veg or less fresh grass) or if it is accompanied by weight loss/yo-yoing weight.

The amount that individual guinea pigs drink can vary enormously. A guinea pig can drink 300 ml or nothing in a day and be healthy, but if you have concerns, please have a piggy checked. It may worth trying to find out whether one of the boys is drinking noticeably more than the other.

ive never actually seen one if my pigs drink... i assume he is as hes still alive and in good condition. this has always been the case (250ml going between them in a day) so it isnt as though its just been recent
