Ok this might sound like a strange one, but I am pretty certain my guinea pigs really don't drink a lot of water! I change my water bottle for them everyday and I measure how much I put in etc and everyday when I go to change it I swear that its hardly been touched by the pigs as the measurement hardly goes down! They get a lot cucumber and melon and I have heard this keeps them hydrated but it worries me a bit the don't really drink a lot of water! Is this normal!? Any comments greatly appreciated!

Piggies dont always drink alot of water, mainly in summer they drink alot.
Its probably where there eating alot of cucumber and melon that they are keeping hydrated :)

No mine don't drink a lot either if they are having a lot of veg especially lettuce but if I don't give them veggies for a day if I run out or something I notice they do drink more.:)

Phew thats good to hear! Mine get veggies everyday for breakfast and some for treats later on! Originally they had two portions of vegs a day but when it was dinner time they hardly touch them so now they just get them in the morning! They always a supply and pellets and hay! So hopefully now I don't have to worry about the water I am getting their diet sorted out!

My younger pigs don't drink at all as far as I can tell. It's nothing to worry about. They get all they need from their veggies.

No I definitely wouldn't worry about it - they aren't stupid and as long as water is always provided for them they will drink what they need.:)

None of mine used the bottle, but they always had a lot of fresh veg (which when I washed them, I left the water on) - their favourite was cucumber, so I made sure they had a lot of that. But before they came to me, apparently they did drink from their bottle, so I presume they must've had less veggies than with me.
