Hey all,
I know this sounds like a really basic question, but I have two guinea pigs and two rabbits, and both cages have drinking bottles attached to the sides. I always see and hear my rabbits drinking from the bottle, but have never seen my guinea pigs drinking from theirs. As one of my guinea pigs is currently under the weather, I want to make sure they are getting enough fluids. Also because I put their worming solution in the water I want to make sure they are getting it.
Is there another way to get them to drink? Would a bowl on the floor be better?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Our first piggies rarley drank for the water bottle as they got all the moisture they needed from the wet veg. They would only drink from the bottle occasionally.

Should you wish to give them extra fluids you can syringe them a little bit of water.

Mine too go through stages of not touching the bottle, they get fluids from their veggies anyway but when they dont drink i put extra water on the veggies.

What wormer solution are you putting in the water? The only thing with this is not controlling the intake, you can get oral drops and also treatments to go on their skin, this might be better for you.

xx

Okay, thanks guys. I assumed that they were getting some moisture from their food, but wasn't sure if it was enough.
I'll definitely look into the worming situation though, as I'm sure there are better options out there to what I have been using.

I wouldn't recommend a water bowl as it just ends up with soggy piggies !

If your worried about they're water intake, try running there veg under water but not drying it of very well so there's still water on it, and also feed more watery veg such as cucumber (:

Some water solutions will put piggies off they're water, i had a vitamin supplement in mine when i first got them, they didn't drink much but when i got rid of the vitamins they drank much more !
