Hi folks. Missy and Topsy moved in yesterday evening. The rehoming centre told me that they like to empty the water bottle so I have ordered a corner litter tray to put under it as was suggested. However, In their attempts to play with it they keep knocking it off! I have it secured on with the bit of wire that came with it and I really struggled to get it in at first so thought it was quite snug! Is there some other way I should be securing it?! They are still playing with it when its on the floor but its been off three times on half an hour!

Perhaps you might be better with a rectangular litter tray? One designed for kittens or small cats should be fine. Guinea pigs can jump over the edges to get in and if yoy scatter a couple of handfuls of hay in there too they quite enjoy rooting around in it. That won't need fixing as it will just lie flat on the ground. Piggies do enjoy moving their furniture around, as you have discovered!;)

Have you thought about trying a "sippy" water bottle; these attach to thd cage in a different way and may be more stable.

Not sure whether the question is about securing the water bottle to the cage or having problems with the corner litter tray being upended.

Thanks folks. Its securing the water bottle thats the issue - there isn't a corner tray yet. They can use a drip bottle and are using it so I am reluctant to change the style, its just the securing I am having issue with, although they have knocked it off less today! I have two masters degrees yet I can't attach a water bottle to the side of a cage....!

Hi, we use a bike water bottle cage. See recent thread on "water bottle for c and c cage". Hopefully a more experienced forum user will tell me how I could have put a link to that thread here?!

I have a living world glass bottle and it is excellent. Non drip and very secure. It sits in a little frame on the cage and has a metal spring cord that holds the top against the side of the cage- i doubt they will get this one off. Also, if u have a "typical" indoor cage like the ferplast ones, if u position the nozzle of the cage between one vertical bar and the plastic clip of the cage, it cant slide side to side either :)

I have this bottle too and it's great - can go in the dishwasher if necessary (no need to buy a new one when it goes green) and is so secure there's NO WAY the guineas will be able to dislodge it. If they do, then they're not really GPs!

Crikey, with a review like that I am afraid that I won't be able to dislodge it! ;)

I use the living world one too. Mine has a little floating plastic carrot in it so I can see where the water level is. Very handy for outdoor houses. My piggies haven't knocked it off yet.
