Wednesday my travel took me past the house from where I redeemed Redemption, and it was a sobering sight - it is currently a burned-out shell. It had somehow been set afire shortly after I rescued Red from there. On rescue day, the woman who asked me if I wanted a "hamster" was also talking about why they were having a yard sale; she said they were going to demolish the house, to tear it down and use the property for something else. And now I drive by there, and it is burned out!
I am currently debating with myself whether to go talk to the fire chief about it. This may have been a controlled fire under the auspices of the fire department, and may have had a permit; such things are occasionally done around here. Then again, the woman was so stupid, she might have thought setting a fire was the way to go. I think I first need to see if anyone was hurt in the fire; if so, then the authorities will definitely be interested in what I have to say.
I am also thinking that maybe the children there that day were playing with matches or being otherwise irresponsible and unsupervised. I suppose I won't know until I ask. Then again, what's done is done, and if no one is hurt, do I want to end up in court as a witness, which is what will happen if arson was involved. . . .
