I noticed today that my piggy Squiggles had a bald spot on her nose, and It wasn't there yesterday. I'm not sure if it's a fungal infection starting, or if it's just dry skin or mites? We go on vacation in 2 weeks, and they will be boarding with our dog's trainer. Our nearest exotic vet is booked out for atleast a month.

I’m afraid it’s rather difficult to see on the picture but we actually cannot diagnose anything in any event. There are many possibilities for this sort of thing to happen - In the early stages mites and fungal can look very similar, it could be dry skin or even be some mechanical abrasion perhaps.

Mites and fungal require different treatment and we would never recommend the use of any treatment on spec in any event - putting anything on it at all before seeing a vet can mask the signs a vet needs to make diagnosis and therefore you risk either not getting a diagnosis at all or getting the wrong one; or the treatment you use could be the wrong thing so it won’t help anyway
