Hi there,

Jimmy my 8 year old piggie has yesterday had to have his lower left incisor removed due to a root infection that caused a reaccuring abscess to develop. He is doing fantastically well and is eating all his usual veg and hay, however the problem is with his dry food. He is normally on Science Selective piggie but this is falling out of the gap that he now has when he's trying to eat.

Could anyone with experience of a piggie loosing an incisor please advise me of any dry pellet foods they've found they can manage with more ease.

Much appreciate any info you guys could give me.
Rachel :)

Hi, I had a piggie lose a lower incisor about 4/5 years ago and what I did was pour boiling water on the bowl of nuggets, leave to cool then mash up with a fork. As long as your piggie is still eating hay and veg i wouldn't worry about the lack of nuggets, some people don't even feed them every day and I only feed them to mine once they have emptied the bowl, which isn't every day.
80% of their diet is hay and the remainder veg and pellets so as long as your piggie is ok with hay thats the main thing :)

I mashed pellets up for mine when he lost teeth and also when he had surgery for his back teeth to get him eating again.
