My pigs get a nice helping of both hay and dried grass every day. They seem to prefer the grass however (so do I, it smells so yummy!) and generally leave the hay. Should I be worried by this behaviour? I know hay is a huge part of their diet and I would like to know if grass is just as healthy/sufficient for my pigs or if I should hold off on the grass for a while?

I imagine it is a lot tastier than hay! The stuff I've seen has always looked it! I don't think its anything to worry about as there's lots of fibre and goodness in grass anyway.

You could just give the grass to them every couple of days as a treat? Too much of a good thing and all that...!

I have the same problem teabag. My boar loves his dried grass so I tend to give them it everyother day to encourage him to eat both.

I only do this because I didn't know if too much was bad or not so have found this to be the happy medium.

My piggies have access to hay and dried grass all the time. They seem to eat equal amounts of both.

Ideally they should have a bit less dry grass than hay because of the grass Protein content, but it would depend on the amount they were eating :) Just try to aim for 'more hay' than grass (dry).

Hays essential for their health, but its a good idea to give them some variation so you should try giving them a handful every other day, or once every three days. Hope this helps O0

Hay must be available 24/7, the variety of hay can be varied but it should never be restricted :)

Sorry I just read back my comment and what I was meant to say was hay should always be availabe but dried grass should be restricted
