hi, i have a 3 month old himalayan lunkarya beatrice, she’s a real sweet heart but her skin is so dry. when she was just a few weeks old she had ringworm, so she had bloody, bald patches. that was treated at the rescue, and she’s healed perfectly. aside from being skittish and terrified she’s a lovely pig. recently she’s been getting really crusty ears. i took her back to the rescue (when i adopted another piggy), and the vet who works there said it was just dry skin. she put some vaseline on her ears. that seemed to have worked but the next day it was already crusty again. i was thinking of getting some stuff from gorgeousguineas, but i wasn’t sure what. does anyone else use this and how often do you need to use it? thanks in advance (:

Hi!

Id the crustiness returns, have her checked for a fungal skin infection. piggies with a thick, heavy coat are both more prone to either because of bad ventilation but you have to always rule out fungal before you can diagnose dry skin as a default.

there was a vet who works at the rescue who said it was just dry skin, do you think i should still take her to a vet?

I would recommend to see another vet to be on the safe side.
