to-day as i was putting my guinea pigs into their run i noticed that 1 had lost the hair and had flaky skin on both her inner thighs ?

does any 1 have an idea on what it is or what we should do ?

awww poor little thing you may need to go to the vets to get her checked out just incase it gets worse is she itching at all?

i think you should probably see a vet just in case. :) poor little thing. hope the little sweetie's alright. sending hugs an kisses from me and my piggies :smitten: :-* :smitten: :-* :smitten:

thank you very much . S he hant been itching as far as i've seen we will be bringing him to the vet tomorrow . I was wondering if we should seperate the 2 of them . We were told that it might be mihts ?

yeah it could be. the vet would know hun. i'm afraid i'm not too great at diagnosing sorry! :smitten:

Is it just on her thighs? No where else? I think that flaky skin and losing hair is more a sign of a fungal skin problem, not mites.

Have you looked on gorgeous guineas website to see if it helps www.gorgeousguineas.com/indentification.html Vets can sometimes misdiagnose skin problems (I have had this happen to me before), so it's good to be aware of the symptoms yourself.

Regarding seperating them, I would probably leave them together for now. You might have to treat both guinea pigs if one has a skin problem as the other one might have already got it.

:) Mites are often present on inner thighs. Contact Chrissie at Gorgeous Guineas for advice on products to use. I use her products on the rescue guineas and my own, they're fantastic :)

thank you all that information is really helpful is gorgeous guineas in england because i live in ireland ? yes it is just on her thighs! :'( i hope she'll be ok :(

Yes, GG is in England but will post to Ireland. I'm sure she'll be fine :)
