Ive just got a new piggie called coral and i was health cheaking her and she has a lot of dry skin that feel like scabs at the roots of her fur he claws were also curled into each other and her fur was incredibly long. She is also rather skinny and litrally flips when you go to touch her i some how think her previous owners were lying in the add about a friendly pig that loves snuggles in need of a friend as her old one bullied her anyone have any tips?

Taking her to the vet would be a good idea so you can get an M.O.T if you like. The long hair if matted and (even if not) could be trimmed just be careful not to pull the skin or cut the skin if it's matted close to it. Then you'll be able to see the dry patches. It's possible it is just dry skin but it could be fungal. The nails if curling need to be trimmed but be wary of the quick. And getting a nice pile of fresh hay and pellets would be a grear start if the piggy is hungry. Are her teeth ok?

Is it possible for a picture to see what you're describing so it's more clear. :)

Her fur suprisingly had no knots and ive cut her claws her teeth are fine i have a pic of her just not the skin because she wont sit still for me to take one

It could be mites mine had bare scabby bits & that's what it was, she also has flakes of skin, thought it was dandruff. She could be scratching there, which is making things worse. Poor love might be in pain with it. Pop her to the vet to have her checked over.

I definitely think a trip to the vets is called for. As others have said, it could be a number of things and giving the wrong treatment can make things worse, so you need a firm diagnosis. The flinching can be due to her skin being extra sensitive.
