image.webp image.webp I have a pig who has had ringworm but no longer has it. He still has crusty dry skin though. The vet has said it is just from the cold. Is this possible? I am only worried because it is super crusty. It has never bled or anything.

I'm not an expert when it comes to fungal issues but I'd be inclined to think it hasn't gone away if it's still crusty. Has the vet prescribed anything, or told you to use any creams on it?

No. She had done tones of test on the dry skin and fur in the area and all fungal infections came up negative so she didn’t give us anything.

Were the lab tests just for ringworm (which they usually are) or for other forms of fungal, too? A ringworm test can come back negatively if it is another form of fungal.

:agr: The tests might only have excluded ringworm. Please check with the vet whether other forms of fungal were tested for

We checked an they said they had tested tons of other fungal infections, mites, and lice. I don’t understand how lice or even mites could cause it but today I realized that the dead skin has begun to fall off and it is becoming more smooth with fur growing back in.

Turns out it was dead skin from when his extra toe was amputated. We got a second opinion and they said it was normal after the amputation of an extra toe
