Hi my black Rex piggy, seem to have really dry skin I have treated her for mites and bathed her but it’s still very flaky? The other sow is absolutely fine no skin problems or mites at all. Any ideas would be great thanks

Hi! Teddies as a breed are especially prone to dry skin because of the thick fur coat and the bad aeration. You need to make sure that your vet has excluded both mange and hay mites and a fungal skin infection.

It isn’t any of the above. As she has been treated for all the above. There is no crusty or redness either. Just flaky skin.

There is only so much you can do for it; my Nye is my latest teddy to have the same problem. :(

What have you done so far? I’d there any conditioning treatment I could use? I’ve seen a few on gorgeous guinea pig but do they work? Is there a better food? Tia
