dry skin?

hello just notuced on one of my guineas that he has a little bald patch over one eye and looks as if he has dry skin there ? can anyone help with as to what it might be ? should i take him to the vet or can i treat him myself ? thanks

is there any scabbing at all?

tbh it could be so many things... mites, fungal or just that he has caught it and it could be healing. I would take him to the vet where they can check him over and if needs be he can have spot on or an injection to get rid of mites

there is a tiny little scab,i just took him to pets and vets in nazing a place that was recomended on here in the vets section,to be honest the man i saw seemed as if he didnt really care,but he did check for fungal infection with the uv light,he said it could be mites and gave me some stronghold / any sugestions ?

it probably is mite cause one of my g.pigs in the past had exactly the same symptom, you could do with maybe going to another vet and getting a shot of Ivermectin, its not too costly.

if theres a little scab I would hazard a guess at mites as it sounds similar to what my Bea had. I would either ask at that vets as to whether someone else is the specialist in small animals or find another one

well the man i saw is meant to be the person to see at that vets,,he hadnt even washed the table from the dog who had just been in there. ill try the stronhold and see how we go...poor little piggy.x

hello again,,decided i didnt like the vet i took them to who was recomened on here as being good,filthy dirty practice !
so i went back to my pets at home vet who is very very nice,i got some xeno 50 for the little piggys,,fingers crossed !
