Hi there, welcome to the forum, such a shame it couldn't be under happier circumstances.

You've obviously done the right thing by taking him to your vet. Has he been back to the vet since the first visit? If not, it might be worth going back for another chat and another examination.

Where abouts in the world are you? Are you confident in your vets ability to treat pigs? (A lot of vets don't see very many, and those that they do see, sadly a lot of people don't bother trying to treat their illness), but we have a good collection of recommended vets going, that's been compiled over the years. We may be able to find someone in your area who comes highly recommended.

I think in the meantime, the main thing is to keep him comfortable until you get either back to your vet, or to a recommended vet, if that's the route that you want to take. I'd say the main thing, if he's not mobile, is to ensure he's moved frequently, so that he's not sitting in his own urine. This can cause burns on the skin, and cause the skin to crack and split and become infected.

Unfortunately, without knowing what the vet found (i.e. does he have any use of his legs? Does he have a pain response in his legs etc.) it's difficult to advise much beyond how to keep him comfortable until you can get him to a vet again.

Sorry that's not much use :(

Welcome to the forum,

I would agree with Amanda, you should really pop back, or at least call your vet for some advice as your piggie is unwell.

Lots and lots of things can cause back legs to go, from spinal issues, blood clots, brain problems and fractures/injury. Your vet needs to do more of a examination or diagnoses so that your piggie can be treated correctly. If he is not on pain relief at home for this problem, he needs to be, its a bit mean if your vet did not send you home with any pain relief as the injection would have worn off now. Oestocare is not a painkiller, just a suppliment, so he will not be recieving any kind of pain relief.

Please call/take your piggie to the vet. If you were not happy with the service you got, then let us know your location and we can always recommend you a good piggie vet as close by as possible.

Ps. just to add, is he eating? Piggies mush continue to eat 24/7 so if he isnt then you will need to help with syringe feeding him. I would echo what Amanda has said about keeping him comfortable as possible.

x.
