Brendan (vet) is still not 100% sure but everything is still unfortunately pointing to either Leukemia or an extreme bug. His white blood cell count was totally off the scale, so much so that they ran second tests on his bloods that they supplied. At this stage Australia does not have a way of treating leukemia... so it will be a matter of just seeing what happens. He's on baytril 0.4ml twice a day and metacam for these past 3 days twice daily as well. I'll be contacting the vets a.s.a.p. monday morning to find out what my next move is... but unfortunately Brendan is not back in till wednesday (he's on site at the museum and the zoo helping out with exotics at the mo - but can be contacted by the girls by his mobile)

Since being at the vets on thursday he has not eaten a thing other than the syringed CC and water and what ever foods i can pop into his mouth and get him to chew on.
Today was a milestone... 3 days later he managed to sneak in some cauliflower, i sobbed when i realised that it had been disturbed and then also found the crumbs in his hidey area :smitten: oh god a small bit of relief.

I've been syringe feeding CC every four hours, plus extra water, watermelon juice and hand force feeding him whatever i can. Today he also ate some parsley leaves by himself, i told him how proud i was of him :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I haven't been able to log in for some reason i'm being told that the Internet Explorer is not responding, and then other times it's saying that by the time i've tried to log in it tells me it's 'timed out' erm no idea what this means but it has been very very lonely thru the night and day without being able to chat to you all and get some support :'( :'(

Glynis. (((((((((( :smitten: ))))))))))
What an awful time, just not knowing what you're dealing with.
Duke is obviously a fighter, so fingers crossed for him.
Great news that he has nibbled some food alone.
Thinking of you both.
healing hugs and kisses for you Duke. :-* :-* :-* :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Anne. xx :)

Awww big ((hugs)) to you and Duke :smitten: :smitten:

Come on Duke, pull through for your mummy and be a fighter like always :-*

Good news that he's ate some food on his own - hopefully he will continue to do so :smitten:

Oh Glynis i'm so sorry you're going through this :'( all we can do is offer you support and pray for Duke, i seriously have my fingers crossed that it isnt serious and that they made a mistake, have you tried spinach? that always cheers mine up. hugs for you and Duke :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

You're doing a great job Glynis, chin up.

Have you posted on the GL forums for advice? Someone there might have an idea that you could let your vet know about.

awww glynis this is so sad, poor duke, and you. your doing a great job with him, hope he keeps fighting as always and pulls through.

good news he ate food by himself though :smitten:

sending lots of hugs to you both from me and the boys

Oh you poor thing :'( We're all keeping our fingers and paws crossed for you and Duke. Let's hope the Vet's diagnosis is totally wrong (it can happen) and as he's eating a bit by himself now that's a really encouraging sign. Keep up the good work Glynis O0 You're a super piggy mummy and he's very lucky to have you :-* :smitten:

Thanks guys :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

It's been one real rough weekend, i've had quite a few with this little guy but oh boy this was one of the toughest :(

To see him flop down after a couple of mouthfuls of CC cause he was so exhausted well it's just heart wrenching :( Went thru many lows over the weekend, i can't remember how many hours i've spent up just wandering the house and doing household chores (folding clothes etc...) during the night cause i just couldn't sleep :-\

Today he didn't eat over night, but since then he's managed a bit more O0 :smitten: he's even had some apple and pellets O0 :smitten:

I'd wished that you all were so close to me over the weekend, i felt blah and needed a friendly shoulder but just could not log in as i said :(
But that's ok now, we know how much we are being thought of and i tell you that helps :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

They cats have nine lives, i'd like to know how many do piggies have? I'm trying to think but i'm sure he's had at least 4 major abscess ops and .......... no idea now how many toofie trims and the associated... plus all this......... mmmmmmmmmm me thinks he's had a few extra lives and i'm thankful for this :smitten:

Bless him 0:) If he's eating pellets that's just gotta be a good sign O0 Even though none of us are close to you, please be assured that our thoughts are always with you (and the piggies of course). O0

Oh Glynis, these little furballs certainly put us through the wringer! I do hope Duke manages to get some food into his system little and often, I know how difficult/tiring it is trying to syringe feed them. Sending healing vibes and hugs to you both, and you do know that although we are all across the pond we are always here for you.x

Oh Glynis so sorry to hear that your little man isnlt well, Duke is a fighter isn't he? bless him. The girls and I are thinking of you both :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Awww Glynis, we are all thinking of you :smitten: :smitten:

Dukey does give you some scares doesn`t he but it is all down to your perseverance and love that he is still with you, he really is a fighter :)

Try some fresh basil, mine will take my arm off for it ;)

Poor Duke he really is causing you a lot of worry. We are all thinking about you both. Glynis dont forget to look after yourself as well as Duke.

Hugs and best wishes

Denise

Glynis, you know how I feel about Duke :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

i'm just sooo tired and frustrated :-\ :-\

Hellooooo and a big welcome you'll love it here :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Awww that's ok ;D ;D ;D ;D i don't mind at all :) :)
How are you both? how did you finally find here?

Aw Glynis, I am sorry to hear poor Duke isn't well. You must be worn out. Fingers crossed it is a bug and the baytril sorts him out.

Tiger & Jeremy and the little fellas send their wheeks of encouragement! Tiger said to tell him to sup up his baytril and food even though it tastes yuk!

x

Poor Duke, such a shame he didn't eat much last night, but it may have been a blip... it sounds like these things go in fits and starts sometimes, doesn't it. Hopefully he will do better today.

we are both fine, had never been to a forum before we got invite from the other one, I found they focussed too much on breeding and decide to find another forum and manage to stumble across this one, after lurking for a couple of days reading the posts we were allowed to see, I decide this forum was much more me and joined.

Congrats on being member of the month for July what an achievement :D :D :D

The only problem I have here is resisting saying ok I can make room for another piggy, they are all so adorable and I would love to be able to help.

The other problem is work getting in the way of my piggy time.

We all send our love and thoughts to you and Duke especially the pink princesses send their special love and princess power over to Duke it worked with Murphy they soon bucked him up. :smitten: :smitten:

I seem to be going thru a roller coaster, yesterday he didn't eat at all other than what i fed him or i hand fed tid bits into his mouth :'( :'(

Thank goodness Dee will be home to feed him at lunch time and spend time with him hand feeding as well, she's nearly finished her schooling for the year so she can be the watch dog for me whilst i'm at work.

I don't know what else to do, he's on the meds he's getting CC and probiotics yet he's just not interested, it's almost like the food makes him feel ill when he smells it...... :-\ :-\ :-\ Would this be something to do perhaps with leukemia? I'm going to have to read up on it as much as i can and see what i can do for him... if anyone knows anything i'd appreciate your advice :smitten:

Still thinking of you and Duke Glynis, you're a great mummy and we've all got everything crossed for him. Take care of yourself too. Sending you both hugs :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
