Dulcie has been off her food since last weekend. Saw our local vet who could not really help but saw Simon on the Wednesday who said she was gassy and she came home on meds and regular massage pad sessions. At this point the gas was the only visible symptom and her teeth were perfect. She initially responded to treatment but by the weekend she was miserable again so I booked another appointment for Monday not knowing what else could be done. That afternoon I looked at her and her eye had started to bulge. I started her on drops to try to keep the eye moist but it was a losing battle. Today just 48 hours later she has had it removed due to a retrobulbar abscess. I suspect it has been brewing for a while but the speed it developed was scary and so different to Tim a few years ago. She has come through the op well and is staying with the lovely Debbie tonight in Northampton. Will post the first photo below and then one from last night.

She is already mostly blind due to cataracts so hopefully won't have to adjust too much.

Poor Dulcie! That did look nasty!

Glad that she has come through her op well and is on safe hands!
I wish her a good recovery!

Ouch Dulcie May that looks like it’s been sore. You’ll soon feel better I’m sure & here’s wishing you a speedy recovery.
Huge hugs

Massive hugs to you all and especially Dulcie, get well soon little lady :luv: x

Poor thing! That must have been painful! Abscesses can often 'hide' until suddenly they fill and become very noticeable very quickly! Fortunately they are really not that dependent on vision, so she won't miss having vision on that side. I hope she makes a speedy recovery for you!

Dulcie is healing well eye wise, but has been admitted today for a few hours as there has been minimal poo since her op despite all the usual meds and massage pad etc. I have just called and she has done 1 poo, so I have to call again at 3. Come on May May, start pooing. Worried.

Dulcie at 3pm had not improved and was very flat so I started to get very worried. Debbie went in to see her and by that point she had perked up slightly and passed 3 poos when Simon picked her up. She also got in a strop when her cozy was moved and headbutted it. She has gone home with Simon overnight so she can have her for meds injected and we will see what tomorrow brings.

Just called and Simon still has her with him, he isn't due in until a bit later, so I will know more then. Am hoping no news is good news.

Aww poor Dulcie-May, no advice- but all fingers & toes crossed for a full & speedy recovery
bucketfuls of healing vibes being sent your way,
Any news on your gorgeous girl? luv the girls & I. xx

I spoke to him this afternoon and though she has now produced a lot of poos she is still very bloated. He said she is not showing signs of great discomfort such as gagging and retching so he wants to carry on a bit longer and give her a chance. She ate a tiny bit for herself but is mainly having syringe feed. She has gone home with him tonight. Will see what tomorrow brings. She is ok eye wise.

How is dulcie today? xx

Not got much information yet but Debbie is with Simon at the mo. They are starting her on Metronidazole but I don't know anything more than that. She has not deteriorated but is not better either.

I just head from Debbie, we have made the decision to let her go. Her breathing has deteriorated and it is not fair to carry on. Debbie has stayed with her.
