I wish they made dummies - soothers - for pigs! My little girl, Mabel, is gorgeous but she is also greedy (very), bossy and VERY noisy. She lives in the kitchen with her friend who never utters a word. But Mabel - good Lord every time I move she jumps on to the mezzzanine and shouts loudly for food.
Of course she doesn't get food every time but that just makes her more inisistent.
She isn't much interested in toys and I got her some alfalfa cubes which she spends about 5 mins pulverising rather than eating then its back to chat again!
What toys/bordeom breakers do you all favour for keeping piggies entertained and, er, quiet? -c

I have one of those wobble toys in Montgomerys cage. He loves it and throws it around constantly. montgomery is my most active piggie and loves nothing better than being out of his cage and roaming around the room. I usually try to change the layout of my piggies cages to make things a bit more interesting for them.

Does anyones guinea pig like to kill their food before eating it? Africa has this fasination of smacking his carrot around before eating it, I find it funny... It's like it's already dead Africa.

I'm jealous as my boys are generally quiet they dont wheep unless I'm doing something to them they dont want (like cleaning their dirty bums!)

How old is your loud piggy?

She's around 7 or 8 months - rescued and they weren't sure. But I think I've discovered the reason for her decibel increase in recent weeks because this am she produced 2 pups! So there was a reason she wanted feeding constantly - not just greed, lol.
If you would like to know more I have put a ridiculously long post on the Health & Illness forum. Its there because the story is wrapped up with another about my piggy with an abcess. And if that sounds mad its because I may be! Mad that is :(|)

Here is Honey the rabbit posing with the wobble toy. I put bits of veg in it and the piggies have great fun trying to get it out. You should be able to get wobble toys at any pet shop.

I can sympathise, I have a 4 year old boar who never shuts up! Everywhere he goes he's muttering away about something, and you can tell from the tone of his mutters when he's happy and excited, or fed up at something. I do have a recording of him, I'll get it off the videocam tonight and see if I can get it uploaded.

That would be fun to see/hear.
