dwarf rabbits and pigs

hi there everyone.i do a bit of rescuing and rehoming poor guineas and i currently have one male that lives by himself untill he is desexed and a huge harem of ladies.I am thinking about taking on a lovely 3yr old female piggie and her friend who is a 5yr old entire male dwarf rabbit.
they have been living together but i want to put the female in with my girls and was thinking that the rabbit could live with my boy? as he gets on with the girl? will this work?
otherwise i do have other cages tc but i hate having to keep seperates they get o lonely

I'd advise against putting the bun with the piggie as buns can accidentally hurt piggies with their feet :'( :'( :'( :'(
They'd be better off in separate cages, but beside each other or the other piggies for company :) :)
 
I would have the male desexed as planned and add him to the group of ladies. I find a boar in with a lot of girls helps prevent arguments etc.
As for the rabbit he should be desexed if possible and found a female (spayed) rabbit friend. If you don't want to go to that trouble maybe the rabbit could live indoors with you, or in close proximity to the house with lots of interaction every day?

Despite what people may say/what you may read, rabbits and guineas are never good companions for each other, rabbits will accidently kick out and injure guineas, they may lie on them, and rabbits just love their own kind
 
It is definetely NEVER EVER advisables, piggies with piggies and rabbits with rabbits, easy as pie O0
 
Starlas post said everything...... My bunnys love my pigs too but they just dont live together but they chat wilst the pigs are in their runs..... My floppy rabbit thinks the pigs are her babies and wonder if their ears will ever grow! :D
 
My sisters rabbit is in the cage next to my guinea pig and they both look at each other sometimes, I would never put them together though. Sometimes they nick hay from each others cage as they are right next to each other and the cages have little gaps with hay just sticking out. It's funny to watch. :smitten: :smitten:
 
Hmm. We tried putting our dwarf lop rabbit in with the guineas. Was alright until he reached puberty. Ahem. DON'T DO IT!
 
No I would never chance keeping a rabbit and guinea pig together again. I tried to put Nemo who was about 2 years old then with a dwarf rabbit who was only 8 weeks old and the rabbit tried to wash Nemo's ears but Nemo got scared and ran and the rabbit starting trying to attack him - he was frightened to death and his teeth were chattering. :'(
 
Waaay before we knew it was not advisable to put buns and piggies together i had a male rabbit and female guinea pig together from 8weeks old... They lived together until the guinea pig died at 6years old...

The rabbit did try and hump her when puberty kicked in so we got him neutered which stopped that... They had a very happy relationship as he was very submissive bun and she was the boss... she had lots of hidey holes that he couldnt get to and i can honestly say they loved each other, we rescued another rabbit who lived next door to them and he was a scaredy cat with her but loved his Squeaky piggy... :smitten:

WE WERE LUCKY... I do feel guilty now as it could have turned out so differently and i would never do that again... just like i wouldnt have a rabbit or piggy on their own...

Get the bunny a neutered friend (and read up on bonding buns and piggies first if you havent already) and pop the piggy in with the rest... O0 They will all be much happier :)
 
besides the fact that the bunny could hurt the piggy, rabbits are carriers of disease which are harmless to rabbots but are fatal to piggies. so after quarentining them and slowly introducing the girl piggy to the others, i would get mr bunny made into an it and get it a little fixed girlie bunny O0 but as mr bunny is 5 it may not be worth having him fixed because of his age, so maybe have his cage side by side with the piggies or get a younger bunny for company. O0 keep an eye on the piggy that she doesn't fret for her friend O0 hugs for them all :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: maybe get your male piggy a teddy to cuddle up with till he is old enough to be fixed. O0
 
You can have a spayed female with a un neutered male... Be careful his urges do not stress out the female or hurt her... If he is amorous then a female who can stand up for herself would probably be better... but be wary about fighiting if neither of them backs down
It is best if they are both neutered though O0
