Hi :)

I just noticed tonight that both my guinea pigs are nips out of their ears, they didn't flinch when i touched them and they seem ok. Is this part of the bonding process? Both have the nips. They're both boars, around 18/20 weeks old. Should i do anything about it?

Thanks in advance

Hi! I would keep an eye on them and if necessary disinfect the ears with saline solution if the nips are fresh. it can simply be a sign of power grooming veering on the side of power...

Your boys are now at the beginning of the hormonal teenage phase, which lasts from about 4-14 months of age.

Thank you Wiebke, i only just noticed Perry's ears tonight. I'll give both their ears a clean when they're out tomorrow.

Oh no for teenage phase! I'm not ready for them to be 'teenagers'! ☺

@Inkywig, that just happens sometimes. If it gets too aggressive though, separate them.
