Hi guys! Please can you tell me what the earliest signs of ringworm are? My little Pip is making little squeaking noises, I don’t know if it’s just him making guinea pig sounds or if it’s something I should watch closely and book him in at the vets for?! Please help :soz: x x

Hi!

Ringworm usually starts with bloody scab or a small crusty bald patch.

Enjoy that your little one is starting to settle in and is talking now. Is he an only piggy or has he got a companion?

You may find our guide collection for new owners helpful; it addresses a wide range of issues that new owners ask the most questions about: Getting Started - New Owners' Most Helpful Guides

Hello! Thank you for your reply! That’s made me feel a lot better! :P He’s a baby piggy and I have an older one, but he’s taken him on as his own and they get on so well! Thankyou for your help! P.s how long does it take to train a guinea pig to come to you and follow you around the house? Any tips  X x

It takes a bit of patience and persistence. Please have a look at the new owner's guides link in my last post. We have included guides on understanding guinea pig behaviour as well as a guide with guinea pig whispering tips. ;)

The best way to win a piggy's heart is treats; please do not use sugary or dairy treats but rather herbs/dry forage or little bits of their favourite veg.

:roll:Does this seem like a happy little piggy ?

If I were you, I would not worry! A young guinea pig that is chatting away, is a happy piggy. Just give it time to develop its personality; each piggy is different.

I would not so much concentrate on the training side and on expecting certain things, but on focusing on bringing out a piggy's uniqueness and celebrating that! ;)

I think following you depends on the piggy. I've got one who will do it cos she's so very nosey! Another one would come over to me but couldn't be bothered to follow and would rather find somewhere to chill out and eat
