Hey,

So a while ago I noticed that Speedy has bite marks in his ears that are old. Is it possible that before getting him he was bullied by other piggies? Cause both he and Donald were in the same pen when I got them and there was 3 other piggies in there with them. I got them from pets at home so its possible that their ears were being bitten and no one noticed because at a pet store they have a lot of work to do that's not animal related.

it's not worrying me at all but if he was it might start to explain his dominant behaviour (if Guinea pig bullying works the same a human bullying that is).

Our little boar Theo came to us with very chewed ears, he was originally from P@H but we rescued him as a lone pig from a family who bought him then decided after a month that he was boring and smelly and they wanted a puppy instead... Theo is lovely but he has a really submissive attitude and wants everyone to love him and tell him he's a good boy, pet shop bullying really impacts piggies but probably in different ways depending on their personality!

apart from being submissive that's Speedy. He's proper dominant so, that explains it!

Thanks!

One of my young boars has large bits of ear missing. I think he was bullied by the others as a baby in the pet shop. He lived for 5 months on his own until he came to me. I managed to bond him with a baby boar for 3 months but when the baby got to the 6 month hormone spike and tried to take over top spot there was a hair pulling and nipping spat and the older one became stressed and sat hunched in a corner. Caspy was so unhappy and stressed everytime Red went anywhere near him I divided the cage, they live very happily side by side. I think once Red turned on him he remembered the previous bullying.

he's been performing some submissive squeaking but there's been no hair pulling or nipping and if any skirmishes break out I take one out of the cage for a while until things calm down and they usually go back to playing or eating happily together.
