Ears...

I have just put Alan and Barry out in the run and did my usual check. Alan had a little crust on his eye last week...like a human sleepy(!) but guineapig size...but he had none on the other eye of on his nose or ears.

I checked their ears today and Alan has something in each of them, it looks a little cauliflower-like. I am going to ring the vet today but thought I'd ask on here first in case it was something obvious and not cause for alarm.

He is fine in every way and extremely happy and bubbily today, in fact more so than usual....!

The only other thing you should know is that they have been on mite treatment which seems to have worked but no other health probs.. xx

I'll see whether I can get my camera working, I'm so lame. I have looked online loads googling lots of different things but can't find anything that even looks remotely like it! :{

Well it's not flakey, it looks very much like the inside of his ear although it's definately not. It looks a little greasy but in now wax blocked or anything. It's pale like the inside of his lttle ears x

The insides of their ears look at bit like cauliflower anyway - I'd give it a gentle wash with warm salty water and a cotton bud (don't poke! ) and see what comes out. Some of mine have a lot of waxy build up in their ears that needs cleaning, others are very clean.

Then see what they look like!

Fungal is usually on the outside of the ears and looks like dry skin / patches

Oh thank you everyone!

I have just been out for further examination. It's definately only Alan's ears although one is completely clean now. The other, though, had dripped onto a bit of fur outside his ear. I wiped my finger in it and it's the consistance of wax! It doesn't smell at all though and is sticky in that ear wax kinda way.

I think I may have panicked unnecessarily....! :red
