I'm asking on behalf of my mum who has a lovely piggie called Shadow. I'm not sure how old she is now but she's at least three.

Shadow loves grass when it is pulled up and put in her bowl, but dosen't eat it straight from the ground when she's in the run, could this be an indication of dental problems? I had a search but couldn't find anything. She eats plenty of hay, loves it, and gets pellets and fresh food too so it seems unlikely but thought I'd ask.

Thanks for any answers :)

Is Shadow comfortable in the run i.e. does she potter about exploring, or does she not move as well as not eating the grass?

I found that the pigs that weren't very comfortable with being in the run refused to eat anything, but when back in their more familiar environment (cage) they'd be more than happy to eat. Sometimes it takes them a little time to get used to being in the run and all the outdoor noises they're not quite used to, until they feel somewhat content in their environment they won't eat.

If Shadow is eating hay, pellets, veg etc. well then it's unlikely there's anything dental going on there. :)
