Is it only my guinea pigs who have no manners or are others the same? Mine are real slobs when eating. They grab each others food and run off. Sometimes they even grab it out of the others mouth and run off.

All are related and were brought up together but males and females are now separated and get along well.

Their toilet manners are also appauling - pooing in their water, over turning the food dish and generally making a noise when eating. They nibble and eat plastic tape, in fact anything which they see in the cage.

I love the little darlings all the same.

yes thats guinea pigs for you ;D ;D

maybe give them a water bottle instead of a water bowl O0

They love stealing food off each other - if I've got 3 pigs together I always put 3 of everything in - carrot, greens etc. so there's no need to argue over it, but they still do - even if there's spare lettuce on the pile, they'd rather chase each other for the same piece! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Food seems more appealing to them if it's stolen from someone else. I would also go for a water bottle - much more convenient and hygenic. Do they have unlimited fresh hay? Sometimes piggies tend to nibble if there's no hay to do it with.

Yep same here, I once changed mine out and they had a nice big clean hay carpet down one was muching and the other decided he wanted the piece of hay the other one had ::) its like lady and the tramp scene with spaghetti sometimes ;D

Yes, they have fresh hay and dried organic grass every day which they adore. They even prefer to leave all the fresh veg and munch on the dried grass first. (It smells lovely too).

I think they like stealing food because it gives them a high. Water bottles are a good idea.

Mine have terrible manners too - always pinching food from each other. Its true food always tastes better if you nick it from someone else's plate tho. They normally turn their veg bowl upside down - tip their dried food then eat off the floor (and yes, its in a ceramic bowl). And just to top it all off they pee and poo in their bowls too. Lovely! I would definitely suggest the water bottle rather than bowl - much easier from to drink water from.

you should see my ruby after she has had watermelen or toamto its alll down her chain

Mine do that. I put lots of food/hay/veg in so they don't have to fight over it but when one sees the other with something then they want it, even if the exact same thing is right in front of their nose. :P
